Social Booking

Book nerds are getting a few social sites of their own where they can spread the good word of their favorite books, and help folks avoid some of the stinkers out there.

I know of two right off the top of my noggin; Goodreads, and LikeWise

Likewise is relatively new, having been founded in 2017, while Goodreads has been around since 2006. As such, one can expect Goodreads to have a much larger community with a lot more content and reviews. Likewise, however, seems to focus more on recommendations than Goodreads does; it asks you to pick a few of your favorite genres, then throws a bunch of titles at you and asks how you feel about them. The more you respond to, the more accurate the recommendations become.

Likewise also offers recommendations for TV shows and movies, not just books.

Goodreads is an Ink Drinker’s best friend. It allows you to build virtual bookshelves to track the books you have read, are reading, and want to read. You can create your own shelves to add lists for whatever your Inky heart desires: I have one for books I did not finish. It’s VERY easy to wind up with a Want To Read list that’s 100 pages long, so be cautious with that… or don’t, it’s your list and your life. Go crazy.

I can be found on Goodreads: Here
